Dimitra Thomaidou was born in Serres, Greece.
She studied Theater and Philosophy at National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, in Delos Drama School Academy and at Ioannina University (BA.); Theatre Dramaturgy at HfMT Hochschule für Musik & Theater in Hamburg (MA.) and, additionally, she holds a certification diploma of Cultural Manager from DAM Deutsche Akademie für Management. Furthermore, she has participated in Las Téoulérès performing arts residency in France, where she focused on improvisation performance and vocalisation stage techniques. Throughout her studies -and afterwards, she has worked as an actress, dramaturge and director assistant in state theatres as well as in free scenes with various directors and ensembles.
Since 2013, she is based in Berlin and works in performing arts as a dramaturge, cultural manager and performer. Characterized by her transcultural perspectives and interdisciplinary approaches, her work focuses on visibility of feminist thematics and applies on the areas of participatory theater and political theater. Among other institutes, she collaborated with Akademie der Künste, Deutsche Oper Berlin, DOCK11, Volksbühne am Rosa-Luxemburg-Platz and Ballhaus Naunynstraße.
At times, she writes short stories, plays, essays, poems and love letters.
She likes to explore human nature, to question and challenge herself and to share new ideas.
